😊 How Do You Feel? Parts 1 & 2 – ESL PowerPoint Lesson Bundle
Grade Level: 2–3 | Duration: 90–120+ Minutes Total | Slide Total: 120+
Teach young ESL learners how to talk about feelings, wants, and actions with this complete two-part PowerPoint bundle! These lessons are designed to work together, gradually taking students from basic feelings vocabulary to longer, more expressive English sentences.
In Part 1, students learn common feelings and practice asking and answering “How do you feel?” In Part 2, students build on that foundation by learning “want to” and “so,” allowing them to explain what they want to do because of how they feel.
By the end of the two lessons, students progress from:
“I feel hungry.”
to:
“I feel hungry, so I want to eat.”
Perfect for:
- Grade 2 ESL
- Grade 3 ESL
- Beginner English learners
- Large ESL classes
- Public school ESL classrooms
- Speaking and sentence-building practice
📚 Part 1: How Do You Feel?
Students learn 5 common feelings:
- hungry
- thirsty
- tired
- excited
- frustrated
Target Language
“How do you feel?”
“I feel ____.”
Students practice the vocabulary and sentence structure through visuals, repetition, TPR actions, guessing activities, and interactive classroom games.
📚 Part 2: Feelings, Wants & Actions
Part 2 begins by reviewing the language from Part 1 before introducing “want to” and useful actions:
- eat
- drink water
- sleep
- dance
- scream
Students learn to connect feelings with actions:
“I feel hungry. I want to eat.”
“I feel thirsty. I want to drink water.”
“I feel tired. I want to sleep.”
“I feel excited. I want to dance.”
“I feel frustrated. I want to scream.”
Students then learn to connect the two ideas using “so”:
“I feel hungry, so I want to eat.”
“I feel tired, so I want to sleep.”
This gradual progression helps beginner students move from basic vocabulary to producing longer, more meaningful English sentences.
