Continue learning about the four seasons with this fun, colorful, and highly interactive ESL PowerPoint lesson! Designed as an expanded follow-up to Seasons Part 1, this lesson helps young learners connect different types of weather with common seasonal activities through speaking practice, movement, games, repetition, and sentence-building activities.
This lesson is designed primarily for Grades 2–3 ESL learners, but it can also work well with Grade 4 students who are beginners or need additional speaking practice.
The PowerPoint includes English and Chinese support for Chinese ESL classrooms. After purchasing and downloading the lesson, the PowerPoint is fully editable, so the Chinese can be removed or replaced with another language.
Target Vocabulary
Students learn and practice eight common seasonal activities:
• ride a bike
• go swimming
• fly a kite
• build a snowman
• plant flowers
• eat ice cream
• pick apples
• go sledding
Students also review seasonal weather vocabulary, including:
• cold
• cool
• warm
• hot
• windy
• snowy
• humid
• nice
Target Language
Students practice asking and answering questions about weather:
“How’s the weather in ___?”
→ “It’s [adjective] and [adjective].”
They also learn to talk about activities they can do during each season:
“What can you do in ___?”
→ “I can [activity] and [activity] in ___.”
Example:
“What can you do in summer?”
→ “I can go swimming and eat ice cream in summer.”
