🌎 Continents of the World – ESL PowerPoint Lesson 🌎
Take your students on a trip around the world with this colorful, interactive Continents of the World ESL lesson! Designed for Grades 3–4 ESL learners, this lesson teaches students the seven continents while also introducing countries, flags, maps, and useful geography vocabulary.
Students will learn and practice:
🌍 The 7 Continents – Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Europe, Australia, and Antarctica
🗺️ Geography Vocabulary – world, map, continent, country, and flag
🏳️ Countries & Flags – China, the USA, Brazil, Egypt, France, and Australia
💬 Speaking Practice – Students practice sentences such as “China is in Asia.” and answer questions like “What continent is Brazil in?”
🧩 Slow Reveal Game – Students guess the continent as parts of the picture are revealed
✏️ Board Writing Games – Students race to complete country and continent sentences
🚩 Flag Activity – Students identify flags and write the correct country names
🎨 Final Draw & Write Activity – Students choose a country, draw its flag and continent, and write complete sentences about it
The lesson gradually moves from learning new vocabulary to speaking, reading, writing, games, and independent production, giving students plenty of repetition without relying on the same activity throughout the class.
